Be Present, Look Ahead, and See the Whole…

The Martial Artist must be wholly present when executing a hyung (form).  While being present in the current move, he must at the same time be perceiving 1-2 steps ahead, and even more see the whole form from the outside with himself inside of it.

The Musician must feel each moment in every note as she sings or plays.  Yet, in each moment, she must be 1-2 notes ahead at all times and must also be able to hold the whole piece in her mind’s ear.

The Performance Driver must be able to react to the road, his immediate surroundings including other drivers and any obstacles.  Though, as any good driver knows, he must be able to look through the car right in front of him and perceive the 1-2 cars ahead, and he must also have the route mapped out in his mind’s eye.

The Leader in business today must be able to be both tactical in the day-to-day and be able to step up and out into her business and be also intentional and strategic, not only handling the execution of the how but also keeping in mind and always communicating the why.

Find your form. Feel your music. Drive hard. Work not only well, but right.

In everything you are and everything you do…

…always be present, look ahead, and see the whole.
